Important Notice Contrary to the notice on The Numbergroup website, Alternate Media Ltd is still trading.   There is a major dispute over outstanding invoices from Jody Rhodes of Numbergroup and contract issues between the two businesses.  We have not paid the invoices because he has completely ignored our request for information.   If you are a customer of Alternate Media and have been approached by Jody Rhodes of  Numbergroup or 1RT Group, please read this notice carefully.   If you would like to find out more about Jody Rhodes - simply search him on Google UK.  For many years Numbergroup supplied our numbers with no monthly fees for standard numbers and then introduced monthly charges on all the numbers we operate with them.  We did not agree to these charges and we have been forced to pay these for some time to ensure the continuity of service for our customers.  For almost 2 years now we have had major issues with    On a previous occasion when an invoice was simply disputed, Numbergroup disconnected all our customers’ numbers for a period which forced us into paying the amount due even although we disputed the amount.    In the past they increased some of our tariffs by 50% with no notice and would not discuss this with us.   Some 08 numbers generate income.  In 2007 we were due payments for these numbers from Numbergroup which they stopped with no notice – in fact decided not to pay the previous 3 months that were outstanding even altough we had already paid this out to our clients which left us out of pocket.   They are now offering their direct clients numbers with no monthly charges – as they did with us before.  This makes us wonder why as a long standing customer they have been charging our company a monthly fee – but are offering new customers a service with no monthly fee.   Numbergroup are now approaching our clients directly and blatantly lying by stating that we are no longer trading.  They are now actually saying on their website that our customers can contact them and -   “It terms of billing you will go on our standard rates which will be much lower that you were paying anyway. “ This most definitely seems to me that they are trying to take over my customer base and is yet another example of their business ethics. Why are they offering better terms to one of clients and imposing charges on large customers.    Unfortunately as the numbers are all carried on Numbergroup systems, they have the final control over the numbers.  They have already blocked our access to the system to change numbers for clients. This also provides the information that Iwe need to invoice our customers.  This effectively means that they are demanding money from Alternate Media, but we don’t have the information to invoice our clients – a sure way to squeeze Alternate Media out of business.   I am out of the country until 10th June.  When I return I will be seeking legal advice on this matter and contacting OFCOM about the behaviour of Jody Rhodes.  In the meantime, if you are concerned about your number, please contact OFCOM the regulatory body about this.  They can be contacted on   020 7981 3000.    I will happily discuss this in full with anyone when I return.   Kind regards,   Jim Aitken
